Week of April 23- We started our last major project today! Please keep up with your assignment sheet and refer to it frequently to make sure you are satisfying the requirements. This will be a MAJOR grade! If you need assistance beyond the assignment sheet and MLA power point, please make an appointment for extra help before or after school. DO NOT wait until the last minute!!!
Week of April 16- Today was vocabulary test 9. If you were absent, please arrange with me to make that up. We also gave out questions for the next section of the book. Again, if you need to bring up your grade, now is the time to do it!!! The LAST DAY we will accept work is May 17th. Plan accordingly.
Week of April 9- We finished Coco today and began The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian. We will be reading the book for the next few weeks. In addition, please be studying your vocabulary words. Those of you who are missing work, it is time to get that in if you intend to pass. DO NOT wait until the last week to get serious!
Week of March 19th- This week we will be learning how to write an argumentative essay. Make sure to complete each step so that it will not seem overwhelming when we start to write. Also, please be studying for your vocabulary tests. If you have missing work, please get that in. After spring break, we only have 6 weeks until the semester is over!
Week of March 12- Today we took vocabulary quiz 6. If you weren't here for that, please make sure you ask to make it up. We also worked on a speech by Gandhi in the workbook. If you did not get Mrs. Bonham or myself to sign off on it, please make sure you do so. I would also like to encourage you to turn in any missing work or make an appointment with one of us to make up your unit 1 test. We are halfway through the semester; GET CAUGHT UP!
Week of February 28- Vocabulary Unit 5 Quiz is scheduled for Friday, March 2nd. These may very well be the easiest words you will see all semester. Let's all make 100%. We started reading Persepolis this week. If you have been absent, make sure you read the missing chapters so that the story will make sense to you. If you have questions, please let me know.
Week of February 12- Vocabulary Unit 4 words were given out today. The quiz will be on Friday. We will be in the computer lab tomorrow (2009); met in class and then we will all go together.
Week of February 5- The vocabulary tests scores were not as good this time. There are ONLY 10 words! With minimal study, there is no reason that scores should not be very high. If you have not turned in your essay, please get that in immediately. If you are having difficulty getting it typed, let me know and I'll make arrangements with you to type in my office.
Week of January 22- Most of you did very well on your vocabulary tests. Keep up the good work! You will receive new words on Friday and the next quiz will follow on Friday, February 2nd. Also, now is the time to turn in any missing assignments. DO NOT let yourself get behind! If you need to know exactly what you have neglected to turn in, ask me; I'd be glad to make you a list.
Week of January 8th- We have no homework this week, so just concentrate on keeping up with in class assignments. When we get to the end of the semester, those daily grades may just make the difference in a pass/fail grade. Start off strong!
Friday you will receive 10 vocabulary words. You will be tested the next Friday. Again, the accumulation of these minor grades can make a huge impact on your final grade!
