UPDATED SENIOR PROJECT MENTOR HOURS
“In this unprecedented time, we will be making accommodations concerning expectations for completing the required 12 mentor hours for Senior Project. Previously, all 12 hours were face-to-face; however, with school closing until further notice due to protecting our community from the spread of Coronavirus, we cannot expect you to risk meeting in public with individuals. As a result, we are accepting hours completed virtually through video conferencing features, such as FaceTime or Google Hangouts.
Digital Learning Weeks
Ms. Sellman has set up a GOOGLE classroom. Make sure you have joined! You will find class content here. This is not a vacation; you will be held accountable for your work. NOTE: Senior project deadlines have not been extended! All of the information you need should be on GOOGLE classroom. If you would like to take a picture and text me your Letter to the Judges rough draft, I will be glad to proof it. If you have additional questions either email me or text at 678-592-0823
Week of March 3
This week you will be writing the body of your research paper. Make sure it is written in APA format with proper citations. We are happy to read over what you have written and making suggestions. Stay on track with your deadlines. After the research paper is completed the last big hurdle is your portfolio. You are in the home stretch. Don't give up or allow yourself to fall behind right now!
If you would like to stay after school or come early, please make an appointment with me. I would love to help!
Week of February 10
The Reflective Essay is due on Monday. Please have that completed by the end of class. If you have hit a snag with senior project, don't hesitate to ask Ms. Sellman or myself for help. You DO NOT want to get behind. The vocabulary quiz will also be on Monday. Be prepared. These seemingly small daily grades really add up! Tuesday Ms. Tehrani will teach us how to work with Noodletools to make your works cited page for your research paper a breeze. Please pay attention. We will start on the research paper next. Be thinking of a topic. It does not have to be identical to your project, just related. If you require assistance, again, please let us know.
Week of January 28
Proposals are due on Tuesday. If you would like for myself or Ms. Sellman to look at your proposal and make suggestions, please get a copy to us by Thursday. Mentor approval forms are due on the 31st. If you are still struggling in finding a mentor, look on Remind. Ms. Sellman has attached a list of potential mentors. Your mentor is critical to your success. Let us know if you need help.
Week of January 21
If you have not already procured a mentor, time is running out. At this point, if you have not been able to secure a mentor in your favored field, it may be time to just find anyone willing to teach you a new skill. The mentor agreement form is due a week from Friday (January 31st). Working with your mentor is the most important part of senior project. Everything else builds upon it. Monday the 21st we will see a virtual presentation by Mr. Clements regarding the proposal. There will be time to work on the proposal at school. Again, it will be very difficult to complete this element of the project without a mentor. If you cannot find a mentor and you have really tried, please see me. I may be able to help. Proposals are due February 13th. Plan in time to have 2 teachers (not myself or Ms. Sellman) to read through and sign off on your proposal. Your proposal will not be accepted without 2 signatures.
Week of January 7
An introduction to senior project was presented by Ms. Wickham. Additional questions should be addressed to myself or Ms. Sellman. If I might offer two pieces of advice to ensure a successful senior project, they would be to acquire a mentor as soon as possible and to meet all deadlines.
If a student happens to be absent after the class starts in the Springboard book the attachment has been included, so that students do not get behind. http://www.cobbk12.org/centraloffice/learningresources/digitaltextbooks.aspx
