Additional information can be found on Ms. Sellman's blog
Week of April 23- We have started Pygmalion. If for any reason you missed the introduction you should probably google a summary so you aren't behind. I know you only have a few more weeks, but don't check out yet! We have a few more grades that you will not want to blow off! I believe Ms. Sellman or I have made sure you have any work you need to make up. If you see that I have neglected to get that to you. please let me know as soon as possible. Senior grades are due before lower classmen. DON'T wait until the last minute!!!
Week of April 16- Well, ladies and gentlemen, we are in the home stretch. I think you've all learned from practicing your presentations. You may want to ask for an opportunity to practice in your other classes as well. Remember to be gathering your professional clothing and if you need an additional item of clothing, there is a clothes closet. Just ask me! I am available Monday and Wednesday after school if you need any last minute help!
Week of April 9- If you did not turn in your portfolio today, get it in as soon as possible. Late penalties are stiff for this one. If it was not turned in today, take it to Mrs. Winston. Senior project night is next Thursday. Be preparing your power point. We will have time to practice some presentations on Friday. Take advantage of the opportunity!!! The more you practice, the more comfortable you will be on presentation night!
Week of March 19th - By this time you should be finished with your research paper. Letters to the judges are due on the 21st (Wednesday). March 27th is the due date for both the mentor log and mentor verification form. If you have not gotten 12 hours with your mentor, you need to make that happen. Portfolios are due on the 29th (Thursday). Make sure you are collecting all of the required elements to include in the portfolio in addition to printing color copies a little at a time in the media center!
Week of March 12- Today we started Othello. If you did not get the guided notes, be sure to pick those up tomorrow. Tuesday we will start the process of writing the letter to the judges. Don't stress, if you have finished your research paper, the hard part is over! After the letter is finished, we will instruct you as to how to put together your portfolio. We are almost to the end!!!
Week of February 28- We watched the presentation explaining the requirements of your portfolio. As you receive your papers back, please go ahead and 3 hole punch them and add them to your binder. I would also suggest that you start designing your cover pages. The media center restricts color printing to several a day. You WILL NOT be able to print all of your cover sheets in color a day or 2 before the portfolio is due.
Upcoming due dates:
March 1- Final revision of your portfolio
March 8- Research Papers Due to TURNITIN.com by 11:59 p. m.
If you are behind in your submissions, GET YOUR WORK TURNED IN!!!
Week of February 12- Proposal revisions are due tomorrow.
February 13-Vocabulary Unit 1 test
February 16- Unit test on Gilgamesh and Beowulf
Week of February 5- Many of you did not turn in your proposals or mentor approval forms. It is CRITICAL that you get those turned in. If you get behind, it will snowball. This is a huge project, but it is easily managed if the deadlines are met!
Week of January 22- I have done corrections on some of your Resumes. PLEASE remember that the resume' MUST be done according to the template provided by Mrs. Hunt. Resumes are due this Friday. Also, if you have not procured your mentor, please make that happen immediately. If you are having difficulty, please let me know and I will try to help. The Proposal cannot be done without a mentor and that is the next deadline.
Week of January 8th- Be thinking about what subject you would like to explore for senior project. Also, start compiling a list of possible mentors. Remember, right now is the time to commit yourself to this process. The key is to keep up with your deadlines. If you have questions, please be proactive and ask myself or Ms. Sellman EARLY. DO NOT wait until the deadline to ask for help!
